Last June, H.E. Didier Vanderhasselt, Ambassador of Belgium to Sri Lanka, undertook his final official visit to Sri Lanka with a special tour of Ocean Voyager and Seatek, two renowned Belgian-owned enterprises operating in Southern Sri Lanka.
The visit included the companies’ manufacturing facilities, warehouses and operational sites located in the Koggala BOI Zone and Kathaluwa – Ahangama. Accompanying the Ambassador were Mr. Koenraad Pringiers, Honorary Consul of Belgium in Colombo and Group CEO of Sea Leisure Yachting Group, together with Mr. Jonas Heirbrant, First Secretary of the Embassy of Belgium.
The delegation was warmly welcomed in Ahangama by the senior directors and management teams of both companies. During the visit, they were given an overview of the operations, achievements and future growth plans of Ocean Voyager and Seatek, highlighting their contribution to Sri Lanka’s marine manufacturing and export sectors.
The farewell visit served as a meaningful occasion to recognize the longstanding relationship between Belgium and Sri Lanka and the positive impact of Belgian investment and entrepreneurship in the country. It also provided an opportunity to acknowledge Ambassador Vanderhasselt’s commitment to strengthening economic and diplomatic ties throughout his tenure.
